UPSC Civil Services 2026 Examination Overview
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially published the recruitment notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026. Aspirants aspiring to join prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) must submit their online applications before the closing deadline.
Key Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Must hold a Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates appearing in their final semester/year examinations are also eligible to apply provisionally.
- Age Limit: Candidate must be minimum 21 years of age and must not have attained 32 years as of August 1, 2026 (relaxations applicable for OBC/SC/ST/PwD as per central government norms).
- Number of Attempts: General category candidates are allowed a maximum of 6 attempts. OBC candidates: 9 attempts. SC/ST candidates: Unlimited within the age limit.
Selection Process Stages:
- Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Objective MCQs) - 2 Papers (General Studies Paper I + CSAT Paper II).
- Stage 2: Main Written Examination (Descriptive 9 Papers).
- Stage 3: Personality Test / Interview.
